Upcoming Webinar: Tackling Gender-Based Violence in Sports
We are pleased to share an upcoming webinar organized by the SUPPORTER Project, focusing on the critical issue of gender-based violence in sports. This webinar will address the disproportionate impact of violence on women and children in sports and explore ways to foster a more inclusive and safe environment for everyone.
While empowering women and gender-diverse individuals is vital, sustainable change also requires engaging men as active allies for gender equality. By creating safe spaces where men can reflect on their identities, understand masculinities, and challenge harmful stereotypes, they can play a key role in transforming social norms and reducing violence.
The webinar will feature Dr. Daniel Alsarve, a researcher in Sports Science at Örebro University. Dr. Alsarve will discuss how societal expectations of masculinity contribute to violence in sports and highlight the importance of promoting gender-equitable behaviours. His insights will offer valuable perspectives on how sports can serve as a platform for positive social change.
