MORE project: Co-creation event in Thessaloniki

MORE project: Co-creation event in Thessaloniki
Added on 17/07/2023

On 10th July, SEERC successfully organized a co-creation event for the MORE EU project. The event titled “The multi-functional role of women as a key driver for the agricultural development” gathered many women participants from rural Greek areas. This multiplicity of roles contributes significantly to the improvement of the quality of life of their families, as well as to the socio-economic development of the countryside, to civic participation and ways of rethinking territorial contexts.

The MORE project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ program and aims to improve the access and quality of training opportunities and qualifications for women in rural areas of the EU.

Within the event Dr. Leslie Szamosi (Professor of Business Administration and Economics Dept. City College, University of York Europe Campus), presented the results of the MORE project and Dr. Giovanni Oscar Serafini (Associate Professor of Business Administration Dept. City College, University of York Europe Campus), discussed the topic of “Empowering Rural Women: Methodology for Successful Local Actions in Rural Areas"

SEERC was honored to welcome 2 guest speakers that delivered very engaging presentations and sparked the participants’ interest:

Guest speaker, Popi Sourmaidou (founding member of the Social Cooperative Enterprise «Σπείρα Γης»), presented examples of local actions involving women with a proposal for the creation of a local Support Center of Rural Women in Pieria.

Guest speaker, Christiana Gardikioti (founder of the 'Meraki People' Organization) talked about the actions and initiatives of the Blue Economy in Paralio Star and enlightened the audience with important information and action-targeted activities from their mission-driven for-profit company that believes in working in and for nature.
