We are thrilled to announce that the kick-off meeting for the R-Map project was successfully hosted by the Laboratory of Geoinformatics, at Aristotle University Research Dissemination Center, within the esteemed framework of the Horizon Europe initiative. R-Map, an acronym for Remote Mapping and Analysis Project, is a groundbreaking endeavor aimed at examining the phenomenon of remote working and addressing its diverse social, economic, and spatial challenges.

Under the auspices of the European Union, R-Map endeavors to comprehensively analyze, forecast, and mitigate the impacts of remote work across Europe, recognizing the widening urban-rural gap exacerbated by this trend. The project brings together a diverse team of professionals from various parts of Europe, pooling their expertise to tackle this pressing issue.

Utilizing advanced visualization tools and an Integrated Impact Assessment framework, R-Map will provide policymakers with invaluable insights into the multifaceted effects of remote work on individuals, communities, economies, and environments across urban and rural landscapes. The methodology employed, including scenario building and cross-regional exchanges, is meticulously designed to yield tailored policy recommendations aimed at fostering inclusive and equitable development.

If you are a remote worker or share an interest in this vital area of research, we invite you to connect with the R-Map team and stay tuned for further updates and announcements.
