On March 8th, 2024, the South East European Research Centre (SEERC), together with the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, successfully held an event at the Forward Green Expo, focusing on the transition to a circular economy. This event, integral to the JUST2CE project, addressed key factors for a responsible, inclusive, and fair shift towards sustainability.
Event Overview:
- The session began with introductions from Nikos Zacharis of SEERC and Panagiotis Menexopoulos, General Secretary of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
- Prof. Dilay Çelebi delivered an engaging speech on the Fair and Responsible Transition to a Circular Economy and introduced an innovative Decision Support Tool (DST), designed to analyze the impact of supply chains in vital sectors.
The event featured bilingual presentations (in English and Greek), promoting an inclusive dialogue with our diverse audience. The discussion segment allowed for a deep dive into circular economy initiatives, highlighting both exemplary best practices and cautionary tales from a social and environmental justice perspective.
Engagement Beyond Discussions:
The enthusiasm didn’t stop at conversations. Many attendees were eager to explore the DST further and learn more about the JUST2CE project, highlighting the community’s growing commitment to sustainable practices. Our eco-friendly tote bags and leaflets, designed to spread awareness and inspire action, were well-received, underscoring the event's success in fostering a proactive and informed community ready to contribute to a sustainable future.
We are deeply thankful to all attendees, speakers, and contributors for enriching this event with their insights and experiences. Your engagement is instrumental in our shared journey towards a more sustainable and equitable world.
