The rapid development and advancement of Web Applications and the increasing need for more flexibility and availability of the software across the Internet have not bypassed the evolution of Web Application Architectures. Since the first web sites appeared in simple HTML, the way that web software is currently developed and deployed has changed a lot. Many different approaches present architectural frameworks but they are all based on the idea of multiple and autonomous layers. The presentation covers the historical background of the topic, discusses the most popular architectures used today by explaining their key points and demonstrates the similarities and differences with the “traditional” software.
