Dr Panagiotis Ketikidis, Vice Principal of CITY College and Chairman of the SEERC's Management Committee, chaired the 15th Conference on ICT Applications that was held in conjunction with Infosystem 2009, the 23th International Exhibition for Information Technologies, Telecommunications, and Digital Technology. The event took place at Velidio Conference Centre Thessaloniki, on 27-28 November 2009 and was attended by more than 300 participants.
Dr Ketikidis chaired the opening session of the conference which was entitled ‘Digital Technologies for Regional Development’. The panel of the session hosted distinguished speakers, including representatives from the Greek Government, Mr. Markos Bolaris, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, and Ms. Theodora Tzakri, Deputy Minister for the Interior, Decentratlization and Electronic Governance.
Infosystem, the international exhibition under which the Conference on ICT Applications is annually held, takes place every year in Thessaloniki and is organised by HELEXPO, the largest organiser of fairs and congresses in southeastern Europe. Infosystem is considered to be one of the top events for informatics and telecommunication technologies in Greece, and is established as a meeting point for principal institutions, enterprises and organisations in the field of ICT from arround the country.
