South East European Research Center (SEERC) participated in The World Business Angels Investment Forum 2017 that took place on 13th and 14th of February at the Swissotel ‘The Bosphorus’, in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Forum brought together key players of the equity market to debate the benefits and challenges for the angel investment community in achieving successful growth for businesses and to discuss what more can be done to connect the early-stage market ecosystem. The Forum hosted more than 100 global experts from over 60 countries and 5 continents.
The South East European Research Center presented a report, provided insights into issues and challenges in that region. Contributors to the report include the South East Europe Research Centre, the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, and HeBAN. More specifically, contributors of the report were Prof. Panagiotis H. Ketikidis, Dr. Aristea I. Ladas, Dr. Fotis Gonidis, Dr. Andreas Baresel-Bofinger, Katerina Aichinger, Olga Athanasidou, Maria Giorgalli, Rafaella Paradeisi, Arvesa Studenica and Kyriaki M. Tsigarida who studied an innovative methodology charting the steps into start-up success and eventually, came up with the Altuntas Start-up Compass Theory. The theory was presented by Dr. Fotis Gonidis. On Monday, 13th of February the VIP reception and Gala Dinner of the Forum for the presentation of the World Excellence Awards took place, where our Prof. Panagiotis H. Ketikidis was named WBAF Greece Commissioner.
On Tuesday, 14th of February, a professional tour to ITU Technopark, was organized. In order to explore Turkey’s approach to innovation and gain insights into the local innovation culture, in a course of the tour our colleagues visited the ITU startup pre-incubator, and ‘The Magnet’ scale-up incubator.
The International Faculty, CITY College and SEERC were represented by Prof. Panayiotis Ketikidis, Dr. Fotis Gonidis and Mr. Vassilis Tsoulis.
