The kick-off meeting of the REINVEST project (Research & innovation between the EU and India in the field of environmentally sustainable transportation) took place in Loughborough (UK) during 21-22 September 2015 where the global partnership set the key strategy for the next 3 years of the project. Adrian Solomon (Project Manager for REINVEST at SEERC and co-author of this project’s grant) provided during the meetings, a key strategy for ensuring proper implementation and achievement of REINVEST’s indicators – as SEERC’s role in the project is to provide the key fundament on which all the activities will be developed.
The international consortium is composed of key universities from UK (Sheffield, Loughborough), Italy (Padua), Greece (SEERC) and India (IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay). REINVEST addresses the societal challenge of environmentally sustainable freight transportation by providing industries with a tailored benchmarking and decision support tool for incorporating related best practices in their operations and business models. The research performed by the consortium will be infused to the industry through various global co-creation workshops. The immediate next steps for this project consist of the organization of one co-creation workshop in Mumbai (India) where India’s industry needs in terms of sustainable transportation will be assessed and best practices from EU industries will be presented.
