Have you ever wanted to develop enterprise skills? Improve your chances of employment? Start up a business? ELIEMENTAL is an applied research project funded by the European Union that will work with people who have barriers preventing them from taking the first steps towards developing their own enterprise.
Project ELIEMENTAL aims to promote entrepreneurship in under-represented groups, such as unemployed women over 40 years and minority ethnic groups. ELIEMENTAL is based on the findings of the EU-Erasmus funded ELIE project that was successfully completed in 2012 and provided useful insights about the barriers and facilitating factors that encourage enterprising in immigrants in four European countries. ELIEMENTAL aims to diminish the barriers to enterprise and encourage entrepreneurial initiative through specialized training materials and methods.
ELIEMENTAL will run for three years and, during this course, will develop and test innovative training materials and methods for entrepreneurial learning. Besides training people, ELIEMENTAL aims to motivate under-represented groups take entrepreneurial initiatives.
Training workshops and mentoring will take place in four European countries: UK (University of Lancaster, MENTER, The Business Group, Tameside College), Poland (University of Lodz), Greece (SEERC, Ergani), and Romania (Valahia University of Targoviste). The project consortium comprises partners from the academia, vocational education providers, local chambers of commerce, NGOs, and community groups. Dr Carolyn Downs at the Lancaster University Management School in UK, and Dr Andriana Grigorescu at Valahia University of Targoviste in Romania are leading the project.
