The South-East European Research Centre and the G17 Institute put together the first regional effort to gather experts in electoral processes reform from all of the countries of South East Europe to discuss the future of electoral reform in the South-East European region.
The goal of the workshop was to outline comparative trends in technical issues of electoral process reform and to obtain feedback on these issues from experts working in each of the countries of the region.
Participants included academics, important election observers and also high-level representatives from International Organizations of Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Serbia-Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania, FYROM, Turkey, and Greece. Among others are Ivan Vejvoda of the Balkan Trust for Democracy, Florian Bieber of the European Centre for Minority Issues, Nikolai Vulchanov of the OSCE and Dickson Bailey, Project Director of the International Foundation for Election Systems.
A book is published as the outcome of the workshop: Democratisation in Southeast Europe: An Introduction to Election Issues, Dusan Pavlovic, Goran Petrov, Despina Syrri, David A. Stone (eds.)
