1ST SOUTH EAST EUROPE SCIENCE FESTIVAL
INNOVATION THROUGH SCIENCE: LEARN, EXPERIENCE, INNOVATE, CELEBRATE !

The South East European Research Centre announces the 1st South East Europe Science Festival - Innovation Through Science: Learn, Experience, Innovate, Celebrate !, the first Science Festival taking place in Thessaloniki at NOESIS on 18 October 2012. The entrance is free of charge!
The festival features a large set of parallel activities, open to the public. These activities are grouped in five main thematic areas:
- Learn
- Discover
- Experience
- Make
- Enjoy.
Some of the activities, exhibits and places that the public can experience during the festival are: historical automobiles, techno-park, cosmo-theatre, planetarium, robotix lab, fame lab, mind triggering games, interesting science and chemistry demonstrations and experiments, and many others. The demonstrations will be performed by experts from Greece, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.
The festival is expected to attract around 1000 visitors. It is open to the general public emphasising on youth aged 6-17. The event will be opened by several well reputed invited speakers from the local and regional authorities, as well as by a representative from the European Network of Science Centres and Museums (ECSITE) from Brussels, Belgium. The event is organised by SEERC and NOESIS within the framework of the SEE SCIENCE project. The goal of SEE SCIENCE is to enhance the image of the South East European (SEE) Region as a place of innovation by increasing public awareness on the importance of natural sciences, technological progress and innovation. The consortium is composed of 9 partners from 7 different countries (Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia).

The organisers:
- The South-East European Research Centre (SEERC) is an overseas research centre of the University of Sheffield, established as a non-profit legal entity in Thessaloniki, Greece, having as mission to support the stable and peaceful development of South-East Europe by conducting pure and applied research in and for the region.
- NOESIS is a science centre, which has as main objectives the popularization of modern knowledge and its dissemination to the public through exhibitions, movies, seminars and lectures.
