PGR2021 - A conference for young researchers

Welcome message

Dear Postgraduate Researcher,

You are cordially invited to participate in the 15th Annual Postgraduate Research Conference 2021 (PGR2021), previously known as DSC - Doctoral Student Conference, which will be held on May 26 - June 3 2021 by the University of York Europe Campus, CITY College, Thessaloniki, Greece. The Conference is open to any postgraduate researcher, it has an interdisciplinary focus and is organised in themes and topics.

Building on the success of the previous Doctoral Conferences (used to be known as Doctoral Student Conference - DSC), which have attracted more than 1000 research papers in total from countries all over the SE European region and beyond (UK, Australia, South Africa, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Belgium and USA), we are pleased to announce this year's event.

The aim of the conference is to further facilitate the exchange of knowledge between young researchers, and to consolidate the established network of scholars currently undertaking research, providing at the same time plenty of research training opportunities. Postgraduate research students and young researchers are invited to attend and share their - early-stage or yet fully structured - research in a constructive and welcoming environment. Postgraduate students will have the opportunity to:

  • discuss their research with senior academics and receive an individualised thorough feedback with a view to improve their overall research but also oral, writing and presentation skills
  • self-reflect on their research and its position among that of their peers
  • get advice on how to generate more impact from their research
  • have plenty of opportunities for research training through a number of research seminars and workshops organised during the days of the conference
  • develop an interdisciplinary outlook through meeting peers from other disciplines
  • build networks with other students and professionals from around the world

Thessaloniki is a symbolic city in Europe with both a glorious history of 2400 years, and a cosmopolitan modern feel. Our target is to ensure that PGR2021 will provide to Postgraduate Students with networking opportunities and a supportive venue for constructive peer review and critique of ongoing research output. We hope all the delegates will have a successful and educationally rich conference, and also the chance to enjoy our famous Greek hospitality for which our country is widely appreciated!

We are looking forward to warmly welcoming you all to the 15th Annual Postgraduate Research Student Conference 2021.

Dr George Eleftherakis and Prof. Panayiotis H. Ketikidis
