Successful Intergenerational Learning in Enterprizes: Demonstration of the DIGL tool
Delivered by: Dr. Antonia Ypsilanti & Dr. Ana Vivas
The Intergenerational leanrning (IGL) toolkit has been developed and tested in 5 EU countries and five major business sectors as part of the deliverables for the SILVER project (ID: 517557-LLP-1-2011-1-NL-GRUNDTVIG-GMP). In this Workshop we aim to introduce one part of the toolkit to interested parties (i.e., doctoral and PG students, stakeholders, enterprises). Specifically we will present the DIGL (doing IGL) tool which assists organizations to implement effectively IGL techniques, such as mentoring, and mixed age groups to improve performance and innovation and to reduce critical knowledge loss in organizations. This will be a hands-on workshop part of a one-day meeting on IGL incorporated in the doctoral conference this autumn.

Public Engagement and Impact of PhD Researchers
Delivered by: Dr. Tim Vorley, Dr. Robert Wapshott
As a modern academic there is increasingly a need to have an impact through your research, and this often means engaging with different sections of the public. This workshop is intended to get you to think about how you might engage with a particular public. The session will involve a brief presentation by Dr Rob Wapshott and Dr Tim Vorley about some of the opportunities and challenges this can bring. Working in groups you will then need to think about how you would communicate your research to a specific public group first identifying what you think is the key issue and then formulating a key message.
