Prof. Athanasios Tsaftaris is Director at the Institute of Agrobiotechnology at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and Professor of Genetics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a B.Sc. in Agronomy, (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), an M.Sc. in Genetics and Plant Breeding, (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), a PhD in Quantitative Genetics Plant Breeding, (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics (North Carolina State University, USA). His research interests cover the broad areas of Genetics, Genomics and Biotechnology and applications in agricultural production and food production and other products from plants, to assess and exploit the genetic biodiversity of our land, protect human health, animals, etc. He has published over 100 articles and chapters in international scientific journals and books.
